A Maryborough man admitted he screamed and his legs went wobbly when he discovered he won more than $128,000 in Keno.

The Queensland player held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry with a bonus multiplier of three in game 734 on Saturday 11 January 2020 and takes home $128,935.00.

Confirming his win with a Keno official this morning, the man recalled the moment he discovered his win.

“I was just having some lunch and playing Keno,” he shared.

“I have been playing these numbers for years and years. They aren’t of any significance, they’re just random numbers I picked.

“When I scanned my ticket and saw I won, I thought there must be a glitch. I couldn’t believe I won that much money.

“When I realised it was real, I screamed and my legs went wobbly!

“Everyone was giving me hugs and high fives, they were so happy for me.

“I was certainly thirsty for a beer after that. I had to celebrate in some way.”

The stoked bloke already knew exactly how he would use his prize, which includes buying his first home and travelling overseas.

“Yesterday I spent the whole day planning how to use my prize,” he explained.

“I have decided I will put down a deposit for a house and I also want to go on a trip to Thailand sometime this year as well.”

The winning entry was purchased at Carriers Arms Hotel, 405 Alice Street, Maryborough.

Carriers Arms Hotel duty manager Janeen Turton said the venue was thrilled to see one of their local customers win a major prize.

“It’s wonderful,” she said.

“We were very excited for him when he won on Saturday. Everyone was giving him hugs and congratulating him. It was such a great vibe.

“It’s fabulous to see a local and regular customer win such fantastic prize. He’s very deserving of this win.

“It’s great for the pub and for our community. We can’t wait to see another one of our patrons win a major prize soon.”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.
