A Maitland woman is heading into the weekend dreaming of her upcoming European adventure after scoring more than $67,000 in Keno.

The Lower Hunter local held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry in game 748 on Thursday 3 October 2019, taking home a $67,803.90 prize.

Sharing her excitement with a Keno official this morning, the woman revealed she was still on cloud nine.

“I’m over the moon,” she expressed.

“But I still can’t believe it! I’m feeling quite numb.

“I watched the draw unfold and my numbers appear one by one. It was incredibly exciting.

“I do play Keno regularly but you never think it’s going to happen to you!

“It’s the best feeling. I’ll certainly be celebrating this weekend.”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her Keno fun money, the winner didn’t need a moment to think about it.

“When I realised I had won $67,000 all I thought was ‘I’m going to Europe’,” she laughed.

“That’s the first thing that came to my mind and it’s been a dream of mine for a long time now. I’ll be planning the holiday this weekend!

“I’ll also be able to get some renovations done around the house as well!”

The regular Keno player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her Keno 8 Spot winning entry at Telarah Bowling Club, Clark Street, Telarah.

It’s the second major Keno win to land in the region in the past month, with a Maitland couple scoring a Keno 10 Spot prize of more than $1.7 million in September.

The now multi-millionaires purchased their winning entry at Club Maitland City, 14 Arthur Street, Rutherford.

Telarah Bowling Club manager Jo Henderson said it was fantastic to see another Maitland local claim a huge Keno prize.

“This is such great news for the community,” she said.

“Everyone here works really hard and really deserves these life-changing prizes.

“Congratulations to her! We’re incredibly happy for her and hope she does plenty with her prize.”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 17 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $47.2 million. Nine of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including a Newcastle man who pocketed the biggest Keno jackpot in Australian history - a Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot prize worth $7,898,799.30.

Players in New South Wales and the ACT enjoyed more than 34.19 million Keno wins totalling more than $472.51 million at pubs and clubs across the region in the 12 months to 30 June 2019.
