While others were counting down to midnight on New Year’s Eve, a Maitland woman was counting the numbers on her Keno ticket and realising she was suddenly $63,000 richer.

The Lower Hunter Valley resident held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in draw 182, drawn Friday 31 December 2021. Her total windfall was $63,287.40.

“Isn’t it great!” the winner exclaimed when a Keno official confirmed her prize.

“This has come at a good time. Something good had to happen. It’s been such a shocker two years for my husband and I, and for everyone, really.

“I always play my favourite numbers on my Keno entries, though these have changed over the years.

“I’d put this Keno ticket on but had left before the draw.

“At home, I looked at the results online, and that’s how I found out.

“It was about 10.30pm on New Year’s Eve that I knew I was a winner. It was great to finish 2021 on a high.

“I’m not sure what we’ll do with the prize at the moment. It will be great to just have it in the bank, and hopefully, this is a sign of good things to come in 2022!”

The winning entry was purchased at Club Maitland City, 14 Arthur Street, Rutherford.
