A Maitland couple say they’re still shaking days after discovering they’re suddenly millionaires from scoring a Keno 10 Spot prize of more than $1.7 million.
The New South Wales husband and wife held a Keno 10 Spot winning entry in game 900 on Tuesday 3 September 2019, taking home $1,707,307.50.
Confirming their win with a Keno official this morning, the pair relived the life-changing moment.
“Thank you. I’m still shaking,” she laughed.
“It’s incredibly exciting! We can’t believe it.
“We only play Keno sporadically and we bought the ticket on Tuesday afternoon and then went home and forgot about it.
“We only decided to check the results online last night and we couldn’t believe our eyes.
“We went berserk! We both got very dizzy and couldn’t stop shaking.
“Our whole family is so excited. It’s life-changing!”
When asked how they planned to enjoy their Keno windfall, the couple said it would give them the financial freedom they’d been dreaming of.
“We will be setting ourselves up for the rest of our lives,” she said.
“We’re going to buy a new home and really enjoy our retirement.
“This will give us so much freedom!”
The winning Keno 10 Spot entry was purchased at Club Maitland City, 14 Arthur Street, Rutherford.
Club Maitland City CEO Ian Martin said he was thrilled his patrons had scored this life-changing prize.
“We are certainly all so excited,” he said.
“When we saw the win come up on the screen the atmosphere here was electric. Everyone was so happy and all the patrons in the club were checking their tickets and hoping they were the winner.
“We are so glad this couple have checked their ticket and have been united with their million-dollar prize.
“We can only imagine how excited they were when they discovered this news!
“Hopefully this is the start of a winning streak for us and we sell plenty more major prizes soon.”
In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.
