A happy Mackay man has thanked his family’s birthdates after his marked Keno 8 Spot entry scored a major prize on the weekend.

The winner held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry in game 657 on Saturday 5 January 2019 that scored $50,528.70

Speaking with a Keno official today, the stoked bloke confessed he was rapt when he discovered his win.

“I play pretty regularly and when I do I always use the same numbers,” he explained.

“They are the kids’ birthdays, and family numbers. I’ve been using them for years.

“So when I saw those numbers come up on the screen I knew I had won! I was pretty rapt when I saw it come up!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his Keno 8 Spot windfall, the thrilled winner revealed he had his sights set on a new house.

“I’ve been thinking it’s time to buy a new house,” he declared.

“It is a good amount of money to put towards a new house so it will go a long way.”

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his Keno 8 Spot at Harrup Park Country Club, 89 Juliet Street, South Mackay.

Harrup Park Country Club General Manager Matt Cielens said it was good to see a large prize won in his venue.

“It’s great to be a part of Keno and offer such a big prize pool to our customers,” he said.

“It’s a good offer for our players to have the chance to win and we are so happy one of our regulars and a local to the area has won.

“It goes to show that it’s not just numbers on a screen but there is money up for grabs!

“We are really happy for our winner and we wish him all the best.”

This year marks the 22th anniversary of Keno in Queensland. Queenslanders win $26 million on average each month playing the game in pubs and clubs around the state.
