A Cooks Hill man has lived up to his nickname of ‘Lucky Pierre’ after taking home a life-enhancing $50,000 win in a recent Keno draw.

The Newcastle man held a Keno Classic 9 Spot winning entry in Keno draw 18, drawn Thursday, 30 October 2023 and took home a total prize of $50,000.

The gleeful man was savouring his dinner at his local venue when his unexpected good fortune struck.

“There was a bit of shock when it happened,” he shared.

“I bought some Keno tickets during dinner, but the games weren’t close to being drawn yet and because the food came out really quickly, I decided to put some more tickets on to draw it out.

“Once I was finished, I took the tickets to the team member at the venue to check and he scanned them in, but then one of them came up with a message. I thought, ‘oh, that’s strange!’.

“I looked at the winning numbers and I said, ‘I think I’ve got nine numbers! I’ve got them!’.

“There were only three other people in the venue and we all just looked at each other in disbelief.

“I eventually went home and celebrated with some of my friends. A lot of them call me ‘Lucky Pierre’ and I guess this win lived up to the hype!

“I’ll have to think about what I’ll do with the prize. I’ll have to find something to treat myself!

“It’s the most I’ve ever won, so it will be something to remember!”

His winning entry was purchased at Cricketers Arms Hotel¸ 61 Bruce Street, Cooks Hill.

The Cricketers Arms Hotel team was overjoyed to have sold a major Keno winning entry and wished their winner all the best with their prize.

In FY23, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 95.42 million wins collectively worth more than $1.34 billion.
