Lightning has struck Lightning Ridge twice in two weeks, with a Tamworth woman the latest Keno player to claim a major Keno 8 Spot win in the regional town.
The New South Wales woman held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry in game 790 on Sunday 3 February 2019, taking home $84,545.10.
The winner revealed she was in shock when she witnessed her numbers unexpectedly pop up one by one.
“I had been in Lightning Ridge for the weekend visiting some family from Tamworth when I decided to try my luck,” she explained.
“I couldn’t believe it when my numbers popped up. I wasn’t sure at first, I had to keep checking, but sure enough I’d won!
“It was very exciting!”
Confirming her win with a Keno official today, the woman shared she plays Keno regularly but had never won anything like this before.
“I haven’t thought too much about what I’ll do with my prize but I think I’ll just put it aside for retirement as a nice little nest-egg,” she said.
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning Keno 8 Spot entry at Lightning Ridge Bowls Club, 1 Agate Street, Lightning Ridge.
It’s the second Keno 8 Spot win to land in Lightning Ridge in less than two weeks.
A fortnight ago, a local miner scored $88,624.90 in game 856 on Monday 21 January 2019.
His winning entry was purchased from Lightning Ridge Outback Resort, Onyx Street, Lightning Ridge.
Lightning Ridge Bowls Club employee Eleanor Beaumont said it was exciting to see so many wins land in the outback.
“It’s crazy for such a small town to have so many big wins,” she laughed.
“It’s great for the locals and our regular patrons.
“In 2012 we had a man here win more than $1 million on Keno, it was so exciting.
“To have another big win out here is great news for the community.”
