A Trinity Beach man has burst into triumphant cheers after winning a major Keno prize for the second time in just a few short years, this time taking home a prize of more than $90,000.

The Cairns local held a Keno Mega Millions 8 Spot winning entry worth $92,366.30 in draw 286, drawn Sunday 6 December 2020.

Speaking with an official from Keno this morning, the stoked bloke explained he’d experienced the winning feeling only several years before.

“I had popped into the club in the afternoon to have some dinner and play some Keno,” he explained.

“It’s certainly a great way to end the weekend. Anyway, when I saw the win come up, I was very excited.

“I was so overwhelmed! It certainly was a great surprise.

“My friends and I ended up staying out a bit later last night and celebrating.

“This is actually the second biggest Keno win I’ve ever had.

“A few years back, I won more than $100,000, so I feel quite lucky when it comes to Keno!

“Hopefully next time you’re calling me to let me know I’ve won $5 million.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his Keno bounty, the Queensland player admitted despite winning a major prize previously, he still needed time to let the news sink in.

“You’d think because this is the second time I’ve had a big win that I’d immediately know what to do with it,” he laughed.

“But honestly I have no idea. I am just shocked!

“Since it’s coming up to Christmas, I will probably put it towards that, and it would be nice to go on a family holiday - especially after the year we’ve had.

“The rest I’d like to keep in the bank for the future.”

The winning entry was purchased at Trinity Beach Sports Club, 1 Nautilus Street, Trinity Beach.

Trinity Beach Sports Club gaming manager Michael Hooper said the venue was celebrating adding another major prize win to its list.

“We are over the moon!” he said happily.

“It’s amazing, isn’t it? Especially around Christmas time.

“We are ecstatic for our winner and wish him all the best with his prize.

“We’ve had a few major wins over the years and it’s always exciting.

“This is unreal! We will certainly be celebrating another major win in the venue.”

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 58.4 million wins collectively worth more than $776.79 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 17 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $38.72 million.  Four of these major winners were Queenslanders, including a group of three long-time Cairns friends who scored a Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot prize worth more than $5.9 million.

Queenslanders enjoyed more than 19.49 million Keno wins totalling more than $249.57 million at pubs and clubs across the state in the 12 months to 30 June 2020.
