A Charters Towers dad has been hit with a wave of déjà vu after scoring $1.25 million in a Keno draw over the weekend, mirroring a life-enhancing major Keno prize from four years ago.

The North Queenslander scored a Keno Classic 40 Spot win in Keno draw 961, drawn Saturday 8 November 2025 and looks forward to $1.25 million.

The winner matched one number on his 40 Spot Keno ticket. This ticket type is unique because you can win by matching a lot of numbers or hardly any at all.

The overjoyed winner previously pocketed $250,000 in 2021 after matching 20 numbers on a Keno Classic 40 Spot ticket.

When an official from Keno confirmed the life-changing news with the newly-minted millionaire, the winning man relayed how the special win came about.

“It’s crazy! I can’t believe it!” he laughed.

“I’m honestly a bit tired from the celebrations – ha! The celebrations went longer than I anticipated.

“I always play a 40 Spot. I actually won $250,000 about four years ago by playing a 40 Spot. It’s so crazy to have won again.”

With a million-dollar boost about to land his way, the Sunshine State resident shared a few plans he had in mind.

“I’m actually viewing an open home as we speak!” he revealed.

“I’ll be looking to buy a house and look after my children.

“Thank you very much for the call!”

His winning entry was purchased at Rix Hotel Motel, 69 Mosman Street, Charters Towers.

In FY25, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 76 million wins collectively worth more than $1.2 billion.

During this time, Keno crowned 20 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $57.9 million. Four of these major winners were Queenslanders, including a Townsville man who scored $4.4 million.

Queenslanders enjoyed more than 27.3 million Keno wins totalling more than $450.7 million at pubs and clubs across the state in FY25.
