A Lake Macquarie man may start cleaning out his car more often after discovering a Keno ticket that had been languishing in his vehicle scored almost $1.5 million on the weekend.

The New South Wales resident held a Keno 10 Spot winning entry in game 750 on 23 June 2019, however he didn’t discover his win of $1,481,985.30 until late yesterday when he checked his ticket.

Confirming his news with a Keno official late yesterday, the stunned man recalled how he discovered his windfall just moments earlier.

“I’ve had a successful afternoon!” he declared.

“I had no idea whatsoever. The ticket was where I always keep them – in my car!

“I got a bit of a shock when I just checked it now.

“It’s just lucky that I came in to check it!”

The regular player shared he had marked his winning entry using his favourite numbers.

“I just play my same numbers – birthdays and ones that came to me and I’ve just played them for a little while,” he said.

“Usually it just says ‘no win’!This is certainly the biggest prize I’ve ever won.”

As for what he might do with his million-dollar Keno fun money, the man admitted he needed to come to terms with his good fortune first.

“It really hasn’t sunk in yet. We’ll celebrate tonight and then tomorrow just to see if it’s sunk in,” he laughed.

“I honestly don’t know just how I’ll use it just yet, but I’m sure it will come in very handy.”

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his entry at Dora Creek & District Workers Club, 1 Minnie Street, Dora Creek.

Dora Creek & District Workers Club bar manager Brad Thompson said the win had created a buzz in the club as they waited for the winner to discover their windfall.

“There’s been plenty of talk around the club wondering who it could be.Certainly a bit of mystery around,” he said.

“We’ve sold a few Keno 7 Spot and 8 Spot prizes, but this is the best one so far. It’s a good win.

“We wish the winner all the very best with the prize.”

In 2018, Keno crowned 16 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $36.47 million.Ten of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT.

New South Wales players win $43.26 million each month on average playing Keno in pubs and clubs across the state.

Last year in New South Wales alone, players bought 43.26 million Keno tickets and won $519.06 million in cash prizes, including 973 individual 7, 8, 9, and 10 Spot jackpot prizes.
