A Lake Macquarie man has admitted that as soon as his dad called him with the news they’d won more than $74,000 in Keno, he ditched his household chores and headed straight out to celebrate.

The New South Wales patrons held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in game 951 on Saturday 12 December 2020 worth $74,684.50.

When an official from Keno reached out this morning to confirm the prize, the winning son admitted he was still reeling from the weekend’s revelation.

“I always play Keno with my dad,” he explained.

“Even if we’re not together, we play a game for the both of us.

“So I wasn’t even at the venue when the win happened, it was just my dad.

“He called me and he said, ‘You’d better come down here’.

“I said to him ‘Are you sure you haven’t misread anything?’. I just couldn’t believe it!

“It’s funny, I was in the middle of doing some jobs around the home, but I just dropped everything I was doing and headed straight there to find out if it was true.

“When I saw the win, I was stoked. Bloody oath, I was excited!

“I thought ‘How good is this!’. My dad was stoked too!

“I couldn’t get my head around it. I still can’t!

“We celebrated with everyone. We bought everyone a round of drinks.

“It was a big celebration! Everyone was so pumped for us!

“I was so happy. I was on cloud nine!”

When asked how the pair planned to enjoy their fun money, the overjoyed son said he already knew what he was going to do.

“I have a few things I want to do around the house,” he explained.

“There’s a lot of big-ticket items, so I will put my half towards that.

“Dad still hasn’t decided what he’s doing with his. I am sure he will think of something good. He won’t miss out!”

The winning Keno entry was purchased at Jewells Tavern, 73 Ntaba Road, Jewells.

Jewells Tavern venue manager Jeff Tomlinson said he couldn’t be happier for the winners.

“Seeing our patrons win big with Keno is always fantastic and generates such a positive atmosphere in our venue that everyone feels like they’ve shared in the win too,” he said.

“As you can imagine, Keno wins like this become a talking point here for a long time to come.

“Our venue is no stranger to Keno wins, but we’re always excited to see another one come our way.

“We wish our winners the very best with their prize!”
