Decades after he started playing the game, a Homebush man has relished the moment he checked his Keno ticket and realised he won a $129,000 prize.

The happy winner held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in draw 956, drawn on Tuesday 6 April 2021, and takes home $129,844.00.

Confirming his exciting prize with an official from Keno this morning, the elated man admitted he never expected a workday to end so well.

“I’ve played Keno for decades, so I am very happy I have had a win,” he laughed.

“I had just headed into the venue after work and popped on some Keno. I was busy having a drink, so I didn’t even see the draw.

“It wasn’t until a staff member told me someone had scored the 8 Spot prize that I checked my ticket.

“I just thought to myself ‘wow!’.

“I have had lots of small wins, but never anything like this. Everyone in the venue was so happy for me too.

“It’s a very good win, isn’t it?

“I really have had quite a rough year, so timing couldn’t be better.

“I am over the moon! Don’t you worry, this prize has gone to a very good home!”

The jubilant winner said he was given some advice from his wife about what to do with the prize.

“Well, I haven’t really given much thought to what I will do with it,” he explained.

“But my wife said that we should save it or invest it. So, I would like to invest it.

“I am sure we will do something a little bit nice to spoil ourselves too.”

The Sydney player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at Markets Hotel, 268 Parramatta Road, Homebush West.

Markets Hotel team member Berry Tan said the venue was thrilled by the win.

“He is a regular patron, so we are very happy for him,” he said.

“Everyone was so excited when we saw the prize was won at the venue.

“We would love to celebrate with the winner by having a small party.

“Congratulations to our winner, we hope you experience even more luck.

“Good luck to our other patrons too!”

In 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 59.9 million wins collectively worth more than $840.6 million.
