A Macleay Island man has lived up to his nickname of ‘Keno King’ after picking up a $50,000 windfall in a recent Keno draw.
The Queenslander scored a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in draw 701, drawn Monday 29 August 2023 and took home a total prize of $51,337.50.
The regular player confessed he ran straight home after the win to double-check if the winning news was true.
“It still hasn’t sunk in!” he exclaimed.
“I usually play six numbers, but I decided to switch it up and play eight instead.
“I sort of didn’t believe it when it first happened. I went home and jumped on the computer to check it.
“It truly has paid off. This is the most I’ve ever won!
“Everyone in the club knows me as the ‘Keno King’, which is quite funny.
“I can’t believe it.”
The merry man shared the windfall had come ‘at the most perfect time’ and would help him build his family home.
“This win is great timing because it will help us finish building our home,” he shared.
“Thank you so much for this lovely phone call.”
His winning Keno Classic 8 Spot entry was purchased at Club Macleay, 28 Benowa Street, Macleay Island.
Club Macleay manager Luke Jobson said the major prize-winning entry had created a lot of buzz in the club and the local community.
“We’re so excited for our winner and couldn’t be happier that we had sold the major prize-winning entry to a Macleay Island resident,” he said.
“The major prize-winning entry has generated a lot of buzz around the club with many customers on the edge of their seats!
“We love being a part of such a life-changing moment in our patrons' lives and we hope to create more winning moments in the future.
“Congratulations to the winner and we wish him all the best with his jackpot prize. Thank you for your ongoing support to Club Macleay!”
