A Cloncurry man’s quiet study break fizzed into a six-figure surprise after his can of Coke came with a $100,000 Keno win.

The chirpy Queenslander scored the Keno Classic 9 Spot jackpot in Keno draw 457 on Friday 19 September 2025. He can look forward to a total prize of $102,851.60.

“Haha! It’s great,” he laughed.

“I’ve been holding onto the ticket for dear life!

“I had the day off from studying, so I was just enjoying a drink of Coke at the pub and put some Keno on.

“I had changed my regular numbers up recently and just chose a bunch of numbers in the 40s and 50s.

“I was looking at the Keno screen and I saw quite a few pop up and I thought, ‘I definitely have something here.’. I had no idea how much though!

“The venue was virtually empty; there were just a couple of us there, and I was excited but pretty calm. Someone said, ‘Aren’t you happy?’.

“Of course I am happy about winning!

“I’m studying at the moment, so I won’t do too much celebrating, but I’ll definitely be helping family with the majority of the prize!”

His winning Keno Classic 9 Spot entry was purchased from Leichhardt Hotel Motel Cloncurry, 11 Scarr Street, Cloncurry.

Leichhardt Hotel Motel Cloncurry spokesperson Jessica Harrison said the team was happily sharing the excitement with their major Keno winner.

“What an incredible win for our patron! It’s always great hearing these winning stories and now we have another one to share with our patrons,” she said.

“We’re thrilled for our customer, and we hope to see more Keno winners in our venue soon.

“Congratulations to him. We have no doubt he’ll be enjoying his prize!”
