A Tuncurry woman who scooped more than $50,000 in a Keno draw on Friday evening believes the itchy palm she had for the past month may have been a sign of the impending win.

The New South Wales player held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in game 425 on Friday 30 October 2020 and scored $51,936.30.

When speaking to a Keno official this morning, the ecstatic winner explained she had been celebrating her win all weekend.

“I’m so happy! I really am!” she exclaimed.

“I was talking to one of my friends on Friday night, and I said I’ve had an itchy palm for the last month. She said that was the hand that brings money in.

“I didn’t think much of it at the time. But then later I saw the screen and the numbers and thought ‘I’ve got that!’.Sure enough, it came up on the screen that there had been a win at the club.

“I wasn’t feeling lucky, but I am now!”

The regular Keno player explained she used the same set of numbers every time she played.

“I’ve been playing them for years. These numbers are ‘bookends’ from a bingo card – so the numbers in the first and last corners,” she said.

“It couldn’t have come at a better time. We’ll get a few repairs done on the house. I’d love to get a new kitchen!”

The player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning Keno Classic 8 Spot entry at Halekulani Bowling Club, 50 Natuna Avenue, Budgewoi.

Halekulani Bowling Club duty supervisor Narelle Baker said the win caused ripples of excitement through the club on Friday night.

“Our staff were so excited for them. It was great,” she said.

“We actually had a Keno win of about $50,000 earlier this year and there’s been quite a few similar wins around the region lately.  That gives the Central Coast a few bragging rights I think!

“We wish the winner all the best with their prize and we can’t wait to do it again.”

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 58.4 million wins collectively worth more than $776.79 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 17 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $38.72 million.  Ten of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including a Newcastle woman who was stunned to pocket a Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot prize of more than $5.4 million.

Players in New South Wales and the ACT enjoyed more than 26.69 million Keno wins totalling more than $386.39 million in the 12 months to 30 June 2020.

Keno players can also enter into the monthly second chance draw for the chance to win one of five $1,000 prizes by scanning their ticket at win.secondchance.keno.com.au.
