After scoring an $82,000 Keno win last week, an Inala couple is happily planning to have a big family party to celebrate their good fortune.

The delighted man held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in draw 393, drawn Thursday 7 April 2022. His total prize is $82,687.40.

Speaking with an official from Keno this morning, the overjoyed husband explained how his smoko break win came to be.

“I headed into the venue to have a bite to eat during my lunch break. Then before I went back to work, I popped on some Keno,” he explained.

“I had no idea I’d won the prize. A few days later, someone called me and told me about the 8 Spot win at Diamonds Hotel and encouraged me to check my ticket, so I did.

“I had a weird feeling I would win big one day, so it actually wasn’t much of a shock when I realised I was the winner.

“I'm thrilled about this win, though. It's awesome! I only play now and again, so it's really lovely.

“My wife had plenty of plans for the prize when I broke the news to her!

"We're going to save most of the prize for the kids. But we’re planning to use a bit of the cash to upgrade our car. We could certainly use a bigger one!

"We’ll celebrate in a few weeks - once we get the money. We're hoping to have a party with our family.”

Diamonds Hotel venue manager Russell Lumb said his entire team was ecstatic to have had another major prize win.

"Seeing one of our patrons win big with Keno is always exciting! We almost feel like we've won ourselves," he said.

"Keno wins like this always generate so much positivity. We love sharing this news with our patrons.

"Everyone’s been so excited, and they’re all very happy for the winning family.

“It’s a big moment when we sell a major prize, and we can’t wait to do it again.

“Congratulations to the winner and his family. We couldn’t be happier for you!”

In 2021, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 36.2 million wins collectively worth more than $590.3 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 13 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $31 million. Six of these major winners were Queenslanders, including a Gladstone man who won a Keno Classic 10 Spot prize of more than $2.1 million.
