A Gymea man is planning to celebrate winning a $127,000 Keno prize by cooking up 2kgs of chicken wings.
The New South Wales player held a Keno 9 Spot winning entry in game 344 on Thursday 11 July 2019 scoring a prize of $127,580.10.
Confirming his win with a Keno official this morning, the hungry winner revealed he initially thought his win was a prank.
“I bought my ticket and then went and had a bit to eat, so I didn’t see the draw,” he explained.
“When I went to check my ticket, they told me I won.
“I thought it was a prank! I didn’t believe it.
“I still don’t feel 100% sure about it. It’s crazy!
“It was a stroke of luck.
“I am over the moon!”
When asked how he planned to use his prize, the excited man said he would need some time to think, but he did have a few ideas.
“We could really use the money. It’s come at a great time,” he shared.
“I am going to pay some bills and go on a holiday to South America. I love South America, it is so beautiful.
“I am going to get two kilos of chicken wings to celebrate!”
The player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his entry at Sutherland District Trade Union, 57 Manchester Road, Gymea.
Sutherland District Trade Union duty manager Brooke said the venue was celebrating selling a Keno 9 Spot prize.
“It’s such great news,” she said.
“Having a big win creates such a great atmosphere in the venue and everyone has been celebrating with us.
“We are so happy for our winner and wish him all the best with his prize.
“We can’t wait to have our next big Keno win!”
In 2018, Keno crowned 16 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $36.47 million. Ten of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT.
New South Wales players win $43.26 million each month on average playing Keno in pubs and clubs across the state.
Last year in New South Wales alone, players bought 43.26 million Keno tickets and won $519.06 million in cash prizes, including 973 individual 7, 8, 9, and 10 Spot jackpot prizes.
More chances to win!
In late 2017, Keno released Mega Millions – a higher jackpot version of the current “Classic” Keno that uses the same Keno ball draw but gives players the chance to win $5 million or more every three minutes with a spend of $2 – just $1 more than the current game.
Keno is a fun, easy game that is played approximately every three minutes. Twenty numbers are drawn from the 80 available on the Keno display screen. Players simply match their numbers to the numbers drawn for a chance to win over $1,000,000 for as little as $1 per game.
