A Western Australian man and his girlfriend have turned their Melbourne holiday into a memorable adventure after they scored $52,000 in a recent Keno draw.

The holidaymakers scored the Keno Classic 7 Spot jackpot in draw 249, drawn Wednesday 8 May 2024 and took home a total prize of $52,623.90.

“I couldn’t believe it,” the winning man shared when an official from Keno confirmed the win.

“It was a big day when we found out!

“It wasn’t until the next day after the draw that I looked up the draw number online and saw that I had all the winning numbers because I couldn’t find any Keno places that were open at the time.

“I said to my partner, ‘I’ve got all the numbers! All of them!’.

“We’re currently on holidays in Melbourne and we leave this weekend!

“Such perfect timing and it really boosted our holiday.”

While the $52,000 windfall could open the doors to a brand-new car or another lavish holiday, the victorious man declared he would continue to ‘live life normally’ and try to pretend it wasn’t there.

“I want to think about it, so I’ll pretend it’s not there. I like that I won’t receive the winnings for up to two weeks which gives me time to take it slow and not go crazy,” he said.

“I’ll probably pay off the mortgage but for now, I’ll leave it in the background and forget about it.”

His winning Keno entry was purchased at Welcome Stranger Hotel, 128 Bourke Street, Melbourne.

The Welcome Stranger Hotel team said they were absolutely over the moon to have sold a major Keno prize winning entry to someone passing by on their holiday and wished them all the best.

In 2023, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 49.81 million wins collectively worth more than $1 billion.

During this time, Keno crowned 21 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $51.5 million. Three of these were from Victoria, including a Moe woman who won $2.24 million.

Victorians enjoyed more than 9.18 million Keno wins totalling more than $127.28 million across the state in 2023.
