A Hemmant man has declared his $60,000 Keno win yesterday is the perfect way to start 2023.

The Brisbane resident held a Keno Classic winning entry in draw 171, drawn Tuesday 2 January 2023. His total prize was $60,364.70.

“It’s pretty good!” he exclaimed when confirming his win with an official from Keno.

“I’ve played the same numbers for about 20 years. You wouldn’t believe it, but I’ve seen those numbers come up about three times while waiting to put a ticket on.

“Yesterday, I thought I’d pop into Queensport Tavern and wish them a happy new year. While I was there, I put my Keno numbers on.

“I looked up and thought, ‘all I need is the number two’, then the number two came out!

“It’s about bloody time!

“I love playing Keno, and sometimes I do all right, but this is the biggest win I’ve ever had.

“At this stage, it’s all going to go into the bank and be saved for a rainy day.

“It’s not a bad way to start 2023. It’s pretty cool!”

Queensport Tavern manager Michael Toomey said he couldn’t be happier to see one of his regular patrons win big.

How good is the timing? Talk about starting the year off with a bang,” he said.

“We couldn’t be happier for him. Talk about a happy new year!

“We haven’t seen too many big wins here so it’s also great to see that too. Hopefully, it’s the start of many more to come.”
