A South Toowoomba woman is thanking a stroke of serendipity for scoring a $199,000 major Keno win in one of yesterday’s draws.

The Darling Downs player held a Keno Classic winning entry in draw 633, drawn Tuesday 10 May 2022, and takes home a total prize of $199,169.10.

This morning, an official from Keno reached out to the Southern Queensland winner, who admitted she’d had a sleepless night after making the exciting discovery yesterday.

“I was having lunch with some girlfriends at the golf club,” she explained.

“I usually play 10 numbers, but the lady at the counter misheard me when I asked for my ticket, and she accidentally gave me nine numbers instead.

“When I went up and checked later, I’d won a few thousand, so I thought those numbers must be lucky. So, I asked the girl to replay the numbers, and she did.

“She came up to me a bit later and told me to check my ticket because someone had won $199,000.

“When I checked my ticket, she said, ‘You’re the winner! It’s you!’.

“I just kept screaming, ‘Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! It can’t be true!’. I was blown away.

“How lucky was I? It felt like it was meant to be!

“I headed straight home after that to tell my husband. We were in a daze all afternoon, and you couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces.

“We had a few glasses of wine to celebrate and planned what to do with our prize. We couldn’t sleep a wink that night because of all the adrenaline.

“For some people, this might not be a lot of money, but for us, it’s life-changing.

“We’ve been doing it tough, so this will take the pressure off.

“We’ll use the prize to renovate our house, and then we’ll save some for the future.”

Her winning Keno entry was purchased at City Golf Club, 254 South Street, South Toowoomba.

City Golf Club general manager Peter Constance said the entire venue was celebrating the major Keno win.

“We were all very excited to hear about the win,” he said.

“It’s great to see a local member win a major Keno prize. We couldn’t be happier for them.

“Congratulations to the lucky winner! We wish you all the best.”

In 2021, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 36.2 million wins collectively worth more than $590.3 million.
