A Hampton Park man has explained that after finishing work for the day, he stopped in at his local tavern for a quick bite to eat and walked out with a $60,000 Keno win.

The Victorian player held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in draw 615, drawn Sunday 30 January 2022. His total prize was $62,649.70.

“I’d ducked in after work for an early dinner and decided to play some Keno before I left,” he explained when speaking with an official from Keno this morning.

“I didn’t check the ticket for a few hours, so I was clueless I’d even won the prize.

“It was awesome when I checked the ticket and they told me I’d won more than $60,000! It’s a moment I’d been dreaming of.

“It was bloody good, hey! I was very happy. I tried to be discreet about it, but I was cheering on the inside.

“I’ve been hoping for a major win, so I’m stoked. The most I’ve won before is about $1,500. This is certainly a lot more than that!

“I am going to celebrate tonight. I’ve got a few mates coming over for some drinks and a BBQ, which will be a lot of fun.

“I already know exactly what I’ll do with the prize. I love luxury cars, so I’m going to put it towards getting a really nice one.”

The winning entry was purchased at Hampton Park Tavern, 71 Hallam Road, Hampton Park.

Hampton Park Tavern venue manager Vamshi said the entire team was celebrating the major Keno win.

“It’s amazing to have sold a major Keno winning entry to one of our patrons,” he said.

“We’ll celebrate this milestone in our venue this week. It’s a big moment for our entire team.

“Hopefully this is the start of many more big wins.

“Congratulations to the winner, and we hope you enjoy the prize for years to come.”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.
