A man from Port Macquarie has attributed his impressive $59,000 Keno win to his beloved dad, whose good intuition inspired him to grab a ticket and ultimately score the major prize.

The Mid North Coast resident scored a Keno Classic prize in Keno draw 958, drawn Tuesday 17 February 2026. He looks forward to $59,099.10.

The cheerful man explained that he didn’t usually play Keno, but his dad’s passion for the game inspired him to give it a go.

“Thank you! It’s awesome!” he laughed.

“I’ve sadly had to go to work this morning, so I haven’t had time to debrief or even celebrate!

“I tagged along with my dad to the local hotel yesterday, and he told me that he had a good feeling about the day. He inspired me to put a Keno ticket on with him.

“I thought, ‘Well, today might be a lucky day!’.

“I then checked my ticket, and saw I had all the eight numbers and immediately said, ‘Holy crap! That’s eight numbers!’.

“I don’t even normally play Keno. It’s more my dad!”

When asked what he planned to do with his windfall, the New South Wales man rattled off a few ideas he had in mind.

“I’ll have to share some of the prize with family!” he revealed.

“I also bought a new car last year and I wouldn’t mind adding some modifications to it.

“I’d love to also go on an overseas holiday somewhere in Asia. I was supposed to go to Japan back in the day, but I sadly had to cancel those plans because of COVID.

“Thank you so much!”

His winning Keno Classic entry was purchased at Settlers Inn Hotel, 101 Hastings River Drive Port Macquarie.

Settlers Inn Hotel venue manager Zoe Archer said it was very exciting to have sold a major Keno winning entry.

“It’s really exciting! We all know the winner, so the team were all really happy about it,” she said.

“We’ll be spreading the word around the pub this week. Nothing better than letting everyone know a big win happened right here at Setts.

“We had a $40,000 winner in Keno a few years ago, but this is our biggest in a long time.

“There’s no doubt our regulars will be pretty excited. It’s not everyday someone takes home $59,000 and we love seeing one of our own have a win like that.

“A huge congratulations to our Keno winner - what a result! We hope the prize brings plenty of good times. Thanks for being part of the Setts community.”
