A Grays Point father-son duo's weekly tradition of club dinners, meat raffles, and Keno finally paid off, turning their beloved routine into a heartwarming Keno win of $117,000.

The New South Welshman scored the Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in draw 355, drawn Thursday 5 September 2024 and took home $117,071.80.

The winning son spoke to officials from Keno earlier this morning and relayed how the exhilarating discovery came about.

“It’s crazy!” he exclaimed.

“Mum, Dad, and I have a Thursday night tradition where we visit the local club and have a nice dinner and try to win the meat raffle of the night.

“Dad and I always put on a game of Keno, and we did exactly that last night.

“We were having dinner, and Dad turned to me and said, ‘Look up on the Keno screen! I think someone in this club has won $117,000!’.

“I replied and said, ‘That’s impossible! That’s how many tickets had been sold in the draw.’. Little did I know, we had indeed won $117,000!

“The first thing Dad said was ‘Don’t tell anyone’, but I think the whole club knew because we were going crazy!

“I still think it’s a dream.”

The excited son shared that his portion of the prize would fund long-awaited home renovations, while the other half would be used to treat his parents to a much-deserved holiday.

“This has come at the most perfect time because our home renovations were way over-due,” he said.

“Dad will use his share to go on a holiday with Mum.

“So exciting.”

Their winning entry was purchased at Gymea Bowling & Recreation Club, 691 Kingsway, Gymea.

The Gymea Bowling & Recreation Club were so pleased to hear two of their local patrons had taken home a major Keno win and wished them all the best with their exciting plans.

During this time, Keno crowned 18 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $46.7 million. Eight of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including a Shelly Beach dad who scored a $5.92 million windfall.
