Escaping the heat has never been so rewarding after a Gold Coast mum won a Keno prize of more than $102,000 while cooling down inside the Nerang RSL & Memorial Club.
The Queensland woman held a Keno Mega Millions 8 Spot winning entry worth $102,857.50 in draw 308, drawn Sunday 20 December 2020.
Speaking with an official from Keno this morning, the thrilled woman explained how a spur-of-the-moment decision led to her win.
“Can you believe it?” she laughed.
“I had gone into the club to escape the heat, sit in the aircon and have a drink and some dinner.
“It’s funny because I would never stay at the club so late! But I did, and while I was sitting there, I decided to put on some Keno.
“I initially thought I had won $600, not $102,000!
“When they told me what I had won I said ‘No way! You’re wrong, you’re definitely wrong!’. I made him check it so many times.
“I was in tears! It was such a shock.
“It’s so exciting! It’s an incredible win right before Christmas.
“I haven’t slept a wink since. I’ve been just sitting here, completely gobsmacked.
“I can’t fathom this. It’s life changing for me!
“I can’t get over this. It’s absolutely amazing.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her Keno fun money, the elated mum had two things in mind.
“I am going to use it for a house deposit,” she explained.
“I will share some with my family too.”
The winning entry was purchased at Nerang RSL & Memorial Club, 69 Nerang Street, Nerang.
Nerang RSL & Memorial Club general manager Andrew Mcinnes said the team couldn’t be more thrilled for their winner.
“We are very excited!” he said.
“We wish our winner all the very best and hope she can do a few nice things with her prize.
“It’s certainly a great win just before Christmas!”
