A Gold Coast man confessed he’ll never stray away from the special numbers he’s been using for years after scoring a $1.6 million windfall in a recent Keno draw.
The Gold Coast local held a Keno Classic 10 Spot entry in draw 763, drawn Sunday 28 May 2023, and took home $1,602,500.20.
“I was actually sitting at the pub when I noticed the jackpot prize and thought to myself, ‘wow, that would be nice to win.’ I never expected to win it!” the elated winner exclaimed when an official from Keno called to confirm his windfall.
“We’re over the moon!
“To think we left the pub before checking the jackpot draw! Not knowing the prize was ours just makes us laugh.
“We saw that a search was on for the mystery winner on the news and couldn’t believe it.
“I thought, ‘oh my god, I actually could have won this.’
“We headed straight back to the tavern, and before we knew it, they were congratulating us on our win!
“We stuck with the same numbers our whole life and bingo! Here it is!
“We cannot wait to set up our family and do some overseas travel.
“We’re not going to change much but it will provide great security for our family.”
The winning entry was purchased at Benowa Tavern, 117 Ashmore Road, Benowa.
Benowa Tavern spokesperson Sharon Fox said they were celebrating having one of their patrons score a major Keno prize.
“Seeing one of our patrons win big with Keno is always fantastic and generates such a positive atmosphere in our venue that everyone feels like they’ve shared the win too”, she said.
“As you can imagine, Keno wins like this become a taking point here for a long time to come.
“Benowa Tavern is no stranger to Keno wins, but we’re always excited to see another one come our way.
“We wish our winner the very best with their prize!”
