A Gippsland man has declared he’s started 2021 on a high, thanks to his “incredible" Keno Mega Millions 7 Spot win, which he won on the first Mega Millions ticket he’s ever bought.

The thrilled player held a Keno Mega Millions 7 Spot winning entry in draw 540, drawn Saturday 9 January 2021 and takes home a total prize of $50,417.70.

Speaking with an official from Keno this morning, the overjoyed man admitted he went completely silent when he saw he’d won the 7 Spot prize.

“I popped into the venue on Saturday night to have some dinner and play a bit of Keno,” he explained.

“I wasn’t actually watching the draw, so I had no idea I’d won.

“I heard someone had won the 7 Spot prize, so I checked my ticket on the Keno app and that’s when I saw it was me!

“I was very happy about the win! It’s the first time I have ever played Keno Mega Millions, so I was pretty surprised.

“I celebrated at the club! It was a great moment.

“I can’t really explain the feeling, It’s incredible!

“I’ve certainly started 2021 on a high with this win. Hopefully, that means there’s only good things to come this year.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his prize, the stoked bloke said although the news was still sinking in, he did have some rough ideas.

“It still doesn’t feel real,” he admitted.

“I would like to go on a few holidays this year around Australia and then hopefully next year I can go overseas.

“It will certainly come in handy.”

The Keno Mega Millions winning entry was purchased at Sporting Legends Club, 233 York Street, Sale.

Sporting Legends Club supervisor Adam Pinkus said he couldn’t be happier for his winner.

“It’s a great win,” he said.

“We are very happy for the winner and wish him all the best with his prize.

“Hopefully we have some more big wins soon.

“There’s always a great vibe in the venue after a big win, and everyone still ecstatic for the winner now.”

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 58.4 million wins collectively worth more than $776.79 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 17 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $38.72 million.  Three of these major prize winners were from Victoria, including a Hasting man who was lost for words after winning a Keno 10 Spot prize of more than $2.6 million.

Victorians enjoyed more than 3.22 million Keno wins totalling more than $49 million in the 12 months to 30 June 2020.
