An Ashbury man is thanking his friend for alerting him to the fact he’d just won a $188,000 new year’s Keno surprise.

The Sydneysider won the Keno Classic 9 Spot jackpot in draw 465 on Tuesday 2 January 2024, and scored a total prize of $188,907.30.

“I didn’t even know I’d won it,” the winning man explained to a Keno official.

“My friend was at a club and saw there had been a win at Croydon Park Hotel and messaged me about it.

“I had put my Keno ticket on but had left before the draw so didn’t see that I’d won.

“These are the numbers I use a lot, but I added an extra one in there to play the 9 Spot. I thought I’d give it a shot and I won it!

“I’ll use this to pay off the mortgage – this will take a big chunk out of it.

“It’s a great start for 2024!”

The man’s winning entry was purchased at Croydon Park Hotel, 212 Georges River Road, Croydon Park.
