Just before the lockdown was called yesterday, an East Maitland man walked away with a $100,000 Keno win, declaring he’s as “happy as Larry”.

The New South Wales player held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in game 846 on Thursday 5 August 2021 and takes home $101,994.70.

Confirming his win with an official from Keno this morning, the man explained the timing couldn’t have been better.

“Congratulations are in order!” he laughed.

“I was watching the jackpot getting higher and higher, and I thought I’d give it a shot, and I pulled it off!

“I was shocked.  Absolutely shocked!

“I couldn’t believe it. It was unreal. To think I got the win just before lockdown was called is incredible.

“I’m as happy as Larry!”

With just over $100,000 about to hit his bank account, the regular Keno player said it was time to upgrade a few things.

“I’m going to buy myself a new car and pay some bills,” he declared.

“And I’ll put the rest away for now. It will be great!”

The winning Keno entry was purchased at Beresfield Bowling Club, Anderson Drive, Beresfield.

In 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 59.9 million wins collectively worth more than $840.6 million.
