A Dromana man has declared he’s found the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon after he scored a Keno 9 Spot prize worth over $146,000 after he grabbed some drinks with mates after a round of golf.

The Mornington Peninsula man held a Keno 9 Spot winning entry in game 232 on Sunday 9 February 2020 and takes home a prize worth $146,668.10.

Sharing his excitement with a Keno official this morning, the stoked bloke recounted how the win came to be.

“It’s unbelievable! It’s not every day you win something like that!” he exclaimed.

“We’d just played a round of golf before heading to the club, and while I was there having a few drinks with my friends I put on some Keno.

“I’ve been playing the same numbers for about a year now. I’m not sure how I chose the numbers but every time I play, I use the same ones.

“We were sitting outside having a drink when someone came out and said someone in the venue had won a major prize.

“I thought it couldn’t possibly be me, but I checked my ticket anyway. I couldn’t believe it. It didn’t sink in until they started taking me through the process of claiming my prize.

“After that we had a few beers to celebrate. It was a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon – golf, drinks with friends and a Keno win.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his fun money, the thrilled winner revealed he already had plans for a mortgage free future.

“It will mainly go towards the mortgage!” he declared.

“It will be good to pay off a huge chunk and cut back on the repayments.

“We’ll keep a bit in an account for spending on everyday things too!”

The winning entry was purchased at Peninsula Club, 1-3 Noel Street, Dromana.

Peninsula Club manager Peter Dern said he was thrilled one of his patrons was over $146,000 richer.

“We saw it come up on the screen that we sold a major prize and immediately everyone started checking their tickets,” he said.

“We were thrilled when our winner scanned his ticket and realised he had won. We are so excited and happy for him.

“It’s the first major Keno prize we’ve sold in about a year, so we are stoked.

“We wish our winner all the best with his prize!”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.
