With experts warning natural disasters are likely to increase in frequency and intensity in the future, Keno has today announced a $200,000 donation to Disaster Relief Australia to allow it to deploy more relief teams when and where they are needed most.
Disaster Relief Australia is a not-for-profit organisation committed to supporting communities before, during and after a natural disaster.
It combines the skills of Australian Defence Force veterans, emergency responders and everyday Australians to rapidly deploy relief teams across the globe.
These teams provide various services, from debris management and home repairs to volunteer management, aerial damage assessment and disaster preparedness training.
Disaster Relief Australia Chief Executive Officer Geoffrey Evans said he was grateful for Keno’s ongoing support.
“Keno had always been there to assist us in bringing help and hope to communities impacted by disasters, whether it be through financial support or volunteering on the ground alongside us,” he said.
“We are incredibly proud of our partnership with Keno and hope to see it continue into the future.”
Keno General Manager Licensed Venue Operations Paul Malek said Keno was passionate about supporting the Australian community.
“With natural disasters increasing in prevalence and intensity, we know the work Disaster Relief Australia does is so important. But they can’t do it alone,” he said.
“We want to play our part by supporting Disaster Relief Australia, so they can continue to assist more communities impacted by natural disasters.
“The total amount we’ve donated to this important not-for-profit organisation in recent years, including today’s donation, amounts to a whopping $600,000.
“We couldn’t be prouder to continue that legacy of support today.
“Keno is enjoyed by Australians in clubs, pubs, and hotels across the eastern seaboard and in communities both big and small. These venues are known as community hubs and often act as Disaster Relief Australia operation headquarters where relief efforts are organised and run.”
About Keno
Along with being played in over 3,500 pubs and clubs in Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, Keno can now be played anywhere with the Keno app in the ACT and Victoria.
A Keno draw occurs approximately every three minutes. During each draw, 20 numbers are drawn from 1 to 80. Players simply match the numbers on their entry to the numbers drawn for a chance to win over $1 million.
There are a range of Keno games to play, including Keno Mega Millions – a higher jackpot version of Keno Classic that uses the same Keno ball draw but gives players the chance to win $5 million or more.
