A Coorparoo woman enjoyed more than just a steak when she went out for lunch at her local leagues club, winning a Keno 8 Spot prize.

The Queensland player held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry in game 620 on Friday 16 August 2019 that scored a total prize of $56,827.20.

Confirming her win with a Keno official this morning, the Brisbane woman recalled how she discovered her win.

“I was having some lunch with some friends and I thought I’d play a bit of Keno,” she explained.

“I was watching the draw with my friend and I said to her ‘oh, I think I have five numbers, wait, no I have six, no seven, I have all eight numbers!’.

“I don’t usually play Keno, so I had no idea what that meant.

“I knew I had won something, but I didn’t know what.

“My friend was so excited and jumping up and down, but I was pretty overwhelmed to be honest! It felt very surreal.”

The winning woman said she needed time to think about how she would use her prize.

“I am not really sure what I will do with my prize,” she said.

“I think I will put it away to use for a rainy day.”

The happy player shared how celebrations continued well beyond Friday’s lunch.

“I celebrated on the weekend. I had some pizza and some wine with my family,” she shared.

“I will probably celebrate with my friends once the money is in my account too. It will feel a bit more real then.”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning Keno entry at Easts Leagues Club, 40 Main Avenue, Coorparoo.

Easts Leagues Club general manager Sharna McLean said the venue was celebrating the Keno 8 Spot win.

“We were all very excited when we learned our venue had sold a major prize-winning entry,” she said.

“The atmosphere in the venue was great and members are still coming into the club and talking about it. They are very excited for the winner!

“Everyone here at Easts would like to pass on their congratulations to the winner and hope they spoil themselves with the winnings.”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 17 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $47.2 million.  Seven of these major winners were Queenslanders, including a Mackay tradie who scored a Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot prize worth $5,167,445.

Queenslanders enjoyed more than 25.35 million Keno wins totalling more than $312.79 million at pubs and clubs across the state in the 12 months to 30 June 2019.
