A Cobar woman on holiday in Nelson Bay has already begun planning her next dream holiday after winning more than $86,000 in Keno.

The New South Wales player held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in draw 478, drawn Monday 25 April 2022. Her total windfall was $86,421.30.

When the winner initially discovered the news, she was so overwhelmed that her family and staff at the club were worried she’d had a heart attack.

“We’re on holiday, and we’d gone to the golf club for lunch with the family,” she explained when speaking with an official from Keno.

“We ordered lunch, and while we were waiting, I put on some Keno using my special numbers.

“After lunch, I went to check my ticket. The team member there told me someone had won a big Keno prize and that it might be me.

“But I said, ‘Nah, it can’t be me. It wouldn’t be me!’. But then he said, ‘You did! It’s you! Congratulations! You lucky thing!’.

“I couldn’t believe it. I felt so sick after – almost like I could faint. I was so white – white as a sheet. It was so nerve-racking! It took me forever to calm down.

“The team member there was a bit worried about me, so he went and got my family, and they thought something was wrong with me – maybe I’d had a heart attack, or I’d fainted or something like that. You should’ve seen their faces!

“But then I had a massive smile on my face, and I told them what happened.

“Honestly, it’s so much money. It’s a lot to comprehend! I’m still in shock!

“We celebrated with some pizza. It was great!

“At this stage, I’d love to use my prize to travel. The family would enjoy a cruise and some fun adventures.

“I can’t think of anything else now; I’m still trying to get my head around it!”

The winning Keno entry was purchased at Nelson Bay Golf Club, 57 Dowling Street, Nelson Bay.

Nelson Bay Golf Club duty manager Mel Strong said the entire team was ecstatic for the winner.

“It’s very exciting,” she said.

“It was fantastic when the win went off. Everyone was so excited in the club!

“We’re thrilled for our winner and would love to send her our congratulations again. We hope she enjoys her Keno win.

“Good luck to all our patrons. We’re hopeful they all will experience a big win one day!”

In 2021, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 36.2 million wins collectively worth more than $590.3 million.
