A Mid North Coast local or visitor to the region could be walking around oblivious to the fact they’re a multi-millionaire after scoring a $2.4 million Keno prize on Sunday night.

The mystery New South Wales patron holds a Keno Classic 10 Spot winning entry in game 296 played on Sunday 6 June 2021 worth $2,430,035, but they haven’t checked their ticket yet.

The winning Keno Classic 10 Spot winning entry was purchased at Royal Hotel Kew, 2 Ocean Drive, Kew.

Keno officials are urging all players who purchased a Keno entry at Royal Hotel Kew to check their tickets.

It’s the third biggest Keno prize won in Australia so far this year.

The prize continues the Mid North Coast’s winning streak. In April this year, a $5.8 million Keno Mega Millions ticket was sold at Crescent Head Country Club.

Royal Hotel Kew owner Scott Coman said news of the win was creating a buzz around town.

“It’s very exciting! We didn’t know we’d sold a big winning ticket until Monday morning,” he said.

“We had a lot of people in on Sunday for dinner, but someone’s left unaware they’re now a multi-millionaire. They’ve finished their dinner and gone home.

“It’s a real mystery!

“There’s massive talk around town. Everyone’s looking for their tickets and checking them.

“This is the biggest Keno prize we’ve had at the hotel. It’s come at a great time as we’re doing a big renovation this week.”

Keno spokesperson Matt Hart said he was eager to confirm the news with the latest Keno winner.

“Someone out there could be wandering around with a winning ticket worth more than $2.4 million in their back pocket or handbag without knowing they’ve won!” he exclaimed.

“We’re urging all Keno players from the region to check their tickets today; you could be holding the winning entry!

“Imagine discovering you’re the winner we’re searching for. Think of all of the exciting things you could do with an extra $2.4 million!

“Past winners have used their prizes to purchase cars, renovate their home, or go on roundtrips around Australia.

“If you discover you’re holding the winning Keno Classic 10 Spot ticket, hold on tight to it and head into your closest venue as soon as possible so that we can start the prize claim process!”

In 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 59.9 million wins collectively worth more than $840.6 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 19 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $42.3 million.  Nine of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including a Newcastle woman who was stunned to pocket a Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot prize of more than $5.4 million.

Players in New South Wales and the ACT enjoyed more than 25.3 million Keno wins totalling more than $393.2 million at pubs and clubs across the state in 2020.

Keno players can also enter into the monthly second chance draw for the chance to win one of five $1,000 prizes by scanning their ticket at win.secondchance.keno.com.au.
