A Cecil Hills man is now celebrating rather than commiserating after scoring a Keno prize of more than $62,000 on the weekend while he was at the club watching his football team lose.

The Sydney man held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry in game 205 on Saturday 28 September 2019, taking home a $62,391.30 prize.

Sharing his excitement with a Keno official this morning, the man explained he was out watching the footy finals with friends when he became a major prize winner.

“I was shocked when I realised I had won, that’s for sure!” he laughed.

“I was just out with the boys and we were watching the footy finals.

“I was actually commiserating because my team lost and so I didn’t watch the draw.

“It wasn’t until I checked my ticket that I realised I had won.

“The commiserations turned into celebrations after that! We had a few drinks to celebrate!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his Keno windfall the thrilled winner confessed it would mean he can relax knowing he is debt free.

“I’ll use it to pay some bills!” he declared.

“It takes a load off my mind knowing they’ll be paid off.

“Then the celebrations can continue with footy finals this weekend!”

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his Keno 8 Spot winning entry at Brighton Le Sands RSL Club, 351 Bay Street, Brighton Le Sands.

Brighton Le Sands RSL Club Duty Manager Kerry Stibbard said it was exciting to know one of their customers had walked away $62,000 richer.

“We are really excited for our customer!” they said.

“It’s been a few years since we sold a major prize so it’s nice to have broken the drought.

“Congratulations to the winner! We wish him all the best with their prize!”
