A Dalby grandmother had the surprise of her life this morning, winning $1.3 million while playing Keno with a group of friends.

The down to earth retiree held a Keno 10 Spot winning entry in game 299 on Thursday 11 April 2019 that scored a total jackpot prize of $1,338,983.90.

Confirming her win with a Keno official this afternoon, the local grandmother said she couldn’t quite believe her good fortune.

“I’m feeling really good! I’m holding it together,” she laughed.

“We were just playing Keno as we do every week and a message popped up on the screen that someone at the venue had won $1.3 million!

“Everyone was talking about it and there was quite a few of us who were playing Keno and we were all wondering who it could be.

“I couldn’t believe it when I checked my ticket.”

The woman revealed despite the excitement she couldn’t stick around to celebrate.

“It’s very good but I’ve really got to go home and get some lunch for the old boy now,” she laughed.

“I hope he doesn’t have a heart attack when I tell him!

“I really don’t know how we will use the prize. I am going to have to sleep on it.

“I’ve got lots of children and grandchildren so they’ll all get spoilt.

“I am a very lucky person. I won $10,000 a few years ago!”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning Keno 10 Spot entry at Dalby Leagues Club, Orpen Street, Dalby.

Dalby Leagues Club manager Wayne McKenzie said this was the biggest win they’d ever had at the club.

“All the staff here are bouncing off the walls, it’s so exciting. It has really made our day,” he exclaimed.

“She’s a club favourite so it’s even better to know it’s gone to her.

“It’s so nice to see the huge prize go to a local.

“It just shows big wins can land anywhere and it’s fantastic for the community.”

In 2018, Keno crowned millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than million.  of these major winners were Queenslanders.

Queenslanders won million on average each month playing Keno in pubs and clubs across the state.

Last year in Queensland alone, players bought million Keno tickets and won million in cash prizes, including individual 7, 8, 9, and 10 Spot jackpot prizes.
