In a twist of fate, a Caboolture grandmother has confessed she’d forgotten to change one of her Keno numbers, only for it to lead to a $200,000 win.
The chirpy Queenslander scored the Keno Classic 9 Spot jackpot in Keno draw 692, drawn Thursday 4 September 2025. She can look forward to a prize of $206,397.80.
When an official from Keno spoke with the winning woman, she was still reeling from the excitement.
“Good, thank you! I was bloody restless trying to sleep afterwards. I just kept waking up!” she laughed.
“It was so funny. I had no idea I’d won. I went to check my ticket and the lady at the counter suddenly called someone over. I asked, ‘Is there a problem?’ and she said, ‘You’ve won a substantial amount’.
“I thought, ‘Wow, maybe a thousand bucks?’. Then she said it was more. I guessed ten grand.
“Then she said, ‘You should take a seat’. That’s when I thought, ‘Oh sh**! I might’ve won $50,000 here!’
“Turns out it was even more, and I just started crying. I couldn’t believe it.”
“It’s amazing news. We sold our house a while ago now and are looking forward to finding a new home!
“I use the kids' and grandchildren’s ages, and I change them every time someone turns a year older. I actually had messed up and forgotten to change one. When I realised that, I just went, ‘Oh my god!’.
“I’m off to see my friends now and tell them all the good news!”
Her winning Keno Classic entry was purchased from Caboolture Sports Club, 19 Station Road, Morayfield.
