A Bracken Ridge man is planning lots of road trips in his flash new car after winning a Keno promotion giving Keno customers the opportunity to score a Volkswagen.
The stoked player won a Volkswagen T-Cross Life car valued at $29,990. To qualify, customers had to spend $10 or more on any Keno ticket and then drop their ticket into the entry box.
The promotion was run across 258 ALH venues across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria from 29 March to 9 May 2021.
On Monday 10 May Nudgee Beach Hotel, Cnr Nudgee & Approach Roads, Banyo, was drawn as the winning venue, and on Tuesday 11 May, the Bracken Ridge man was drawn as the winner of the Volkswagen T-Cross Life car.
Today, an official from Keno reached out to the winner, who had recently discovered he is now the owner of a brand-new car.
“I still don’t believe it!” he admitted.
“I was at work when I received the call. I actually had a few missed calls and when I finally answered, they said I’d won, but I just thought it was a scam.
“But then they kept talking, and it started to sound legit!
“I was in total disbelief! I just called my wife then and she couldn’t stop crying.
“I actually had to hang up on her to give her a moment to breathe because she was so emotional.
“She’s completely over the moon. My wife has actually been quite ill, but this has picked her up!
“Whereas I am just in shock! I can’t believe it.
“You always hear of people winning things, but you never think it’s going to happen to you.
“Honestly, I have never won anything in my life, not one thing! So for me, this is amazing.
“And it’s crazy, because I had just popped into the venue to grab a bite to eat and then I saw the Keno promotion and decided I would give it a go and now look, I’ve got a new car.
“It’s amazing!
“We are certainly going to pop a bottle of champagne to celebrate.”
When asked how he intended to enjoy his new Volkswagen, the overwhelmed winner said his wife had already made plans.
“The first thing my wife said was ‘oh my god, I have a new car!’. So, I guess the car is hers now,” he laughed.
“She’s already planning some road trips we can go on with our new car. It’s very exciting.
“Our family car has just about had it too, so the timing couldn’t be better!”
Nudgee Beach Hotel duty manager Madison Bayliss said the entire team was thrilled to have been drawn as the winning venue and to have helped deliver a win to one of their patrons.
“It was genuinely very, very exciting!” she said.
“We are only a small venue, so we know all of our patrons really well, so it is great news!
“Hopefully, we can deliver more wins to our customers in the future!
