A Biloela man is treasuring the random combination of numbers he’s been playing for years after they won him a Keno prize of more than $175,000.

The Central Queenslander held a Keno Classic 8 Spot entry with a Bonus multiplier of 4 in draw 825, drawn Wednesday 7 July 2021 and takes home $176,305.10.

Confirming his win with an official from Keno this morning, the regional Queenslander explained his Keno tradition.

“I play Keno regularly and I always play with the Bonus,” he said.

“I always play the same numbers. They are just a random set of numbers that I started playing a long time ago but I’ve always stuck with them.

“This is the first big prize I’ve won so I am stoked!”

With more than $175,000 about to hit his bank account, the Biloela resident said many people would benefit from his win.

“I’m going to share my prize with my family,” he said.

“And then I will enjoy the rest of it throughout my retirement.”

The winning entry was purchased at Commercial Hotel, 64 Kariboe Street, Biloela.

Commercial Hotel owner Peter Law said he was the first to notice that someone at the pub had won a big Keno prize.

“It was great to see this prize go to a local and one of our regulars,” he said.

“I think he was a little dumbfounded when he scanned his winning ticket and the prize amount was displayed!

“Congratulations to him, we hope this is the beginning of plenty of big wins for our patrons.”

In 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 59.9 million wins collectively worth more than $840.6 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 19 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $42.3 million.  Eight of these major winners were Queenslanders, including a Gold Coast man who won a Keno Classic 10 Spot prize of more than $2.02 million.

Queenslanders enjoyed more than 18.59 million Keno wins totalling more than $264.42 million at pubs and clubs across the state in 2020.

Keno players can also enter into the monthly second chance draw for the chance to win one of five $1,000 prizes by scanning their ticket at win.secondchance.keno.com.au.
