A hardworking Bathurst man has confessed to feeling ‘pretty bloody good’ after discovering he won more than $135,000 playing Keno over the weekend.

The Central Tablelands winner held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry in game 534 on Saturday 5 January 2019 that scored $135,944.10.

Confirming his prize with a Keno official today, the happy man explained how his major win came to be.

“How about that, hey? I am feeling pretty bloody good,” he laughed.

“I was out to dinner with family and friends and thought I would just have a quick punt, and there you go! I won!

“It was completely out of the blue. The numbers were marked with our grandkids birthdates. Except we found out that we got two of the birthdates wrong on our entry! So I think they must be lucky numbers. It feels as though it was meant to be.

“I was completely shocked! I never thought this would happen to me, especially because I rarely play Keno.

“Winning never even crossed my mind. So it was a bit of a shock to the system.”

The thrilled man admitted he had a restless night after discovering his Keno 8 Spot win.

“We couldn’t sleep the night of our win! We just couldn’t believe it. Our hearts were racing the whole night,” he shared.

“It still hasn’t sunk in yet! I don’t think it will until I see the money in our bank account.”

The Bathurst man declared he would use his Keno prize to help his family.

“I don’t really know how I am going to spend the win. Once the money is in our account, we will sit down and decide what we are going to do with it,” he exclaimed.

“But we will definitely help our kids out! That’s the main priority.

“I want to spend it wisely, so I do want to think about it and make sure I make the right decision.”

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at Shanahans Family Hotel - Bathurst, 63 Bentnick Street, Bathurst.

Shanahans Family Hotel - Bathurst general manager Andrian Bews said the hotel was thrilled to have made one of their customers more than $135,000 richer.

“Bit of a lucky one for the winner, isn’t it?,” he said.

“We were so excited for him! It’s great news.

“He is such a nice guy and his family was here when he won, and they were all so excited and jumping up and down! It was brilliant.

“It’s great news for us. We will be celebrating alongside him.”

It’s been a winning few weeks for Bathurst Keno players. On Friday 7 December 2018, a Bathurst resident scored $90,677.30 with the 8 Spot entry he purchased at Bathurst RSL Club, 114 Rankin Street, Bathurst.
