A Bargara woman’s last-minute decision to play 10 Keno numbers instead of her usual four has delivered her a mind-blowing $1.6 million windfall.

The Bundaberg resident held a Keno Classic 10 Spot winning entry in draw 19, drawn Saturday 16 April 2022, and takes home a total prize of $1,685,627.10.

“It’s crazy! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the numbers on the screen light up,” she exclaimed when a Keno official spoke to her this morning.

“I went out for lunch and met up with a friend of mine on the weekend, and while I was there, I decided to play a game of Keno.

“I’ve been playing Keno for a while now, and I always play four numbers, but I decided last minute to mix things up!

“Instead of playing my usual four numbers, I picked 10 numbers and went with it. The next thing I knew, I’d won $1.6 million!

“I was in shock, and I still am! I’ve told some family and friends, and they’re so happy for me.

“I’ve already got a couple of things in mind. I’ve wanted to retire for a while now, so that will probably be on top of the list.

“We will also book an overseas holiday – it’s been on our mind!”

Her winning entry was purchased at Sandhills Sports Club, Whalley St, Bargara.

Sandhills Sports Club operational manager Julie Harris said the team was over the moon to have had a major Keno win at their venue.

“About two years ago, we had a major Keno prize worth $10,000, and now our record has been beaten with $1.6 million! It’s amazing news,” she said.

“Everyone in the venue is talking about it, and the comments have been so positive. Everyone is happy the win has gone to a local.

“Congratulations to the winner and we wish her all the best with her future endeavours!”

In 2021, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 36.2 million wins collectively worth more than $590.3 million.
