A Balgownie man is still struggling to believe almost $200,000 is heading his way thanks to a last-minute decision to change his regular Keno entry.
The Wollongong resident held a Keno Classic 9 Spot winning entry in draw 138 on Thursday 20 May 2021, scoring $197,081.20.
Confirming his win with an official from Keno this morning, the New South Wales player explained he’d spent the evening celebrating his exciting prize.
“Thank you!” he exclaimed.
“It’s fantastic!
“I don’t think I can quite believe it.
“I noticed the 9 Spot was getting up there, so I decided to play!
“I usually only play four or five numbers, but I put an entry on and then went home.
“A little later, the pub called me to tell me the jackpot had gone off. They knew I had been playing!
“I went straight back in, and sure enough, there it was!
“Things like that don’t happen to people like me. It is incredible!”
With almost $200,000 about to hit his bank account, the Wollongong man didn’t take long to rattle off his wish list.
“I am going to pay off my mortgage,” he declared.
“That will make a huge difference. Then I will buy myself a new car and take myself on a holiday.
“It’s great!”
The Keno Classic 9 Spot winning entry was purchased at Balgownie Hotel, 141 Balgownie Road, Balgownie.
Balgownie Hotel manager Maria Kramar said they were celebrating having one of their patrons score a major Keno prize.
“Seeing one of our patrons win big with Keno is always fantastic and generates such a positive atmosphere in our venue that everyone feels like they’ve shared in the win too,” she said.
“As you can imagine, Keno wins like this become a talking point here for a long time to come.
“We wish our winner the very best with their prize!”
