A Ballarat local is eyeing off an upgrade to his car after scoring a Keno 8 Spot prize worth over $64,000 while he was out for a meal on Sunday afternoon.

The Central Highlands local held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry in game 611 on Sunday 15 December 2019, scoring a massive prize of $64,225.80.

Sharing his delight with a Keno official today, the stoked bloke revealed he often played Keno when out for a meal.

“I couldn’t believe it when I won! It’s great!” he exclaimed.

“Whenever I’m out at the pub for a meal I put $5 on Keno. Especially if I see the jackpots getting higher.

“It’s just unbelievable! When I scanned my ticket everyone in the venue was so excited!

“We all didn’t know what to do with ourselves! I ended up buying everyone in the bar a drink to celebrate!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his Keno windfall, the happy man confessed he had his eyes on a four-wheeled prize.

“I’m definitely going to upgrade the car!” he declared.

“Mine is nearly a decade old and could really use a bit of work so I think I’ll just upgrade it instead.

“I think there might be a holiday somewhere in the new year but I haven’t decided just yet.”

The Ballarat local, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning Keno 8 Spot entry at Robin Hood Hotel, 33 Peel Street North, Ballarat.

Robin Hood Hotel Duty Manager Debbie Quirk said she was shocked when she realised her venue had sold a major prize wining ticket.

“I was in disbelief as I have never worked for a venue that has had a big Keno win,” she said.

“All of the staff were super excited for our customer and lots of congratulations were given from all of the staff and our head chef.

“We’ve been celebrating the news amongst the staff and sharing our excitement with all of our customers. We’ve been telling them that a Keno win can happen anytime!

“Our customers have been just as excited as the staff and the winner to find out we’ve sold a major prize.

“In my 22 years of working in the hospitality industry, this is the first major prize I’ve ever sold so I’m thrilled.

“It was a great feeling to be able to have sold the winning ticket to a regular customer who enjoys coming to our hotel.

“Congratulations to our winner! We hope he enjoys Christmas a whole lot more!”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.
